Who was Bartel-Pritchard? Why square? Why not circle? I hope there's a better reason than the one that first occurs to me.

Emil Bartel and William Pritchard were two young Brooklyn soldiers who were killed in combat in France during World War I. The mystery of why the circle was named a "square" remains just that: a mystery.
