Deciduous Lettering

I am trying to figure out what's so amazing about the way this sign looks. Maybe the way the letters seem to have decided that they prefer an independent existence. Will they peel themselves off and dance off into the twilight, escaping the jurasdiction of the law? I'm sure the sign bearer is less delighted. Here's another question for someone: Is James W. Farrell of the law office any relation to the Farrell of Farrell's bar that's around the block? Viva the Farrells.
