Toy Truck
The other day I was stuck behind a trash truck in the morning and watched the men and the truck working for a long time. The men chucked someone's old bureau into the truck and then the truck smashed the thing to smithereens as it closed. I heard a long whining sound and then a loud pop.
I wouldn't take trash collectors for sentimental people, but you never know. Today I noticed this toy truck on 13th Street. The santitation workers had already cleared the street and flung the empty cans all akimbo. But they left this little guy behind. Perhaps out of respect for the awesomeness of those vehicles they work with everyday. Or maybe out of self respect. Or maybe because it wasn't properly bagged. At any rate, it was a vivid example of the macro/micro Brooklyn experience.
By the way, I love the sanitation department logo. It's fascinating. I'm going to get me one of these hats.
