Middle Boy's Monkey Bread
This stuff, balls of premade biscuit dough coated with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar and baked, which I've developed the bad habit of calling Monkey Balls, is the first thing that my 6 year-old son's cooked almost completely independently. I like the fact that it looks like a monarch's thorax in this picture, but of course less immaculate.
I hope I will remember to foster and support this new freedom and ease with cooking which was beautifully facilitated by his experience as a day camper at Beth Elohim. Maybe tomorrow I'll place an order for homemade pasta for dinner...but of course I'm the one that ultimately has to clean up the disaster zone we're all familiar with. Disaster! Yay!
