New York Puppet Library

Is any time the wrong time to gape at or get inside of really large puppets? How about now? These come from the New York Puppet Library run by Theresa Linnihan, which loans puppets out for such occasions as fairs, parties and shows. The collection used to be housed in the arch at Grand Army Plaza but had to vacate their digs due to some renovations to the structure. Someone helped them score a puppet roost at Brooklyn College so luckily the library is still with us, but unfortunately they had to give away some of their characters when they were in the lurch. More on that here.

For anyone with the time and inclination for making their own large puppets there's a helpful guide Theresa recommended called 68 Ways to Make Really Big Puppets . It was great to have them at the PS 107 Fall Festival, they were my favorite part. Well, next to this bowl of purple glitter I spied on the pumpkin painting table. Shiny!!!!!
