Whales off Californian Coast Tortured in Navy Sonar Testing

As per Justice Ginsburg's citations referenced in the LA Times article, the Navy's sonar testing can result in substantial and irreparable harm to marine mammals including mass strandings and hemorrhaging around the brain and ears. But the court sided with the Bush administration and the Navy, turning a blind eye to the incredible pain the testing has wrought. The sound of the sonar has been described as the noise of a jet engine multiplied 2000 times. Whose subs are we so scared of?

Yes, the thought of this is appalling...poor, poor whales.

"Security" for some means often means suffering for others.

For US "security" our war ended up killing as many Iraqis as Saddam Hussein ever did.
