Weekend Shape

It may be the last of the baking weather this weekend so the fires will be burning here. What to make...scalloped potatoes! And maybe a rustic tart. Still waiting to hear if the plant sale at PS 107 where I volunteered to sell plants will be canceled or postponed until Sunday due to weather tomorrow. I signed up for the early shift so I get first dibs on my current dream plants, scabiosa, anemone, flax. The sale starts at 10, weather permitting.

Also hope to head to Bushwick for the Boxed In show at Factory Fresh, where artists have collaborated in filling the gallery with cardboard structures in sympathy with those who've had to worry about how to pay the rent in these rough times. It will be like visiting a dream deferred since I once hoped to make a box house colony in the driveway. And then realized I was probably more content with the dream than I'd be with the reality. I'm sure the box cutter wielding ones of N. Brooklyn and elsewhere have done a finer job than I would have. Info here.

And then there's droves of craft and flea markets. I can't even begin...one at John Jay in case you've ever wondered what it's like in there (check out the phone booths in the lobby,) Sunday from 10-3. Along with PS 321, John Jay will also be hosting the Brooklyn Food Conference which sounds interesting Saturday, 9-9.

...so...much..going...on....
