Remembering Lorna and 9-11

Shaman Joe Monkman talks about his two teachers often; Lorna Roberts, who died on 9-11-01, and Rosa, a medicine woman who then lived in Brooklyn but has moved to Woodstock. Selfish, I wish she were still here. Well, at least we have Margaret Rose de Cruz, chiropractor/process therapist and massage therapist whose office is on Prospect Avenue. Lots of people talk about how happy they are with her work.

Lorna worked with fire, conducting ceremonies where with help of the fire new directions are invited into reality. These ceremonies are very powerful and have to be done with great care and wisdom, we are all quite familiar with the power of fire. You have to be very careful what you ask the fire for, and be sure you're ready for it. The people who can productively finesse these ceremonies are the greatest spiritual midwives.

Lorna died from cancer 9:11 pm on 9-11. It's impossible not to imagine her nurturing the souls of those who were suddenly and so violently jolted from one reality to the next, and those who had to choose between 2 terrible options and chose to jump. Jumping in suits, falling stars. She wasn't the only one there to comfort those traumatized souls, you can be sure.

I never knew Lorna, but nevertheless I take so much comfort in her visionary life, her enormous heart, her holy spirit.
