More Dog Talk
Apparently I'm rude. Walking along 16th St. Today I was struck by the cuteness of a black dog's white paws as the dog lovingly pawed his master's stomach. As we pass, I say "nice socks." I am informed by my 9-year old that I shouldn't have said that. According to her, I should have said. "Nice dog. I like his fluffy white feet." I wonder if I'd seemed cheeky to the dog's owner, he didn't seem to have taken any offence. He seemed to know what I meant. That's what I tell my daughter. But I should know by now you have to be careful when you're talking about someone's dog, especially in front of a preteen who prefers her mother be seen, not heard, in public.
