Rudolph is Cute

At Zaytoon's on Vanderbilt St. in Prospect Heights the food is inexpensive and delicious. The murals are evocative, the way the camels and figures are painted makes them more spectral than solid, very cool and atmospheric. Because of the artists visible brushstrokes, the windseems to blow through the image so nicely, leaving visible tracings of sand. It was nice to see this dancing/flying Rudolph in the mix, soaring above his hard times brother, the camel. Is he on his way to deliver a gift to the baby jesus?

Zaytoon's is Arabic for olive, gift, or as the menu says "the lifelong of childhood friends." Here's to that!
