Today taking the F train into Manhattan I saw a man who looked like RFK. I think he must have noticed me staring at him, and if it weren't for the crowd I'm sure I would have asked him what it is like looking so much like a Kennedy. I also saw a train Picasso about 6 months ago. What if you got on the train one day and everyone on it was a dead celebrity, just acting natural, befuddled, hornery... Maybe it's Jim Morrison, Pope John Paul II, Gilda Radner, Black Elk, Orson Welles, just going to work in Manhattan, getting through another day, IMing friends, making plans, getting annoyed at you if you bump into them accidently. Playing their ipods too loud, offering a seat to a pregnant lady, trying to figure out what a windorphin is...
A man walked by with a big golden pendant. From far away it looked like the head of the statue of libery, but when he got close I saw it was a big shiny gold Jesus. AG (happy birthday!!) and I started talking about Jesus, he looks like the statue of liberty...no he doesn't, how do you know, do you know what Jesus really looked like?...Then someone sitting near us said that in the caribbean Jesus is portrayed as black. I want to see the black Jesus, actually, I'd love to see the gold and black Jesus side by side, because for some reason it seems like the perfect time of year for that.
Also today I saw some sparrows getting it on on Prospect Avenue. They were perched on the windowsil of a bowfront. I was rude and stopped and stared because that is my nature. It was astonishingly cute, the little fella all puffed up and and singing his wee head off. Trying to figure out how to balance on the back of the lady bird. After a while I felt like a third wheel and let them be, and it seemed to go a little better for them after that. I think it's easier for humans. But too bad there's not as much singing.
Anyway, reader, if you have a chance, I'd love to know what resemblences you might have noticed on the train, or at yoga or something, but especially on the train.

I once thought I saw Steve Burns from Blues Clues on the G train and I was inordinately excited. It might actually have been him- not sure.
On a related note, have you ever noticed how some people seem to be familiar types of people? Like my brother, who I always think I see on the street or subway until I get up close. He is not even remotely famous, but it reminded me of that.
Wow, that guy seems so sweet. Good train company if it really were him. Or even if it seemed like him. Which it might have been since that show is made here in NYC.
Types....I used to work with someone who had one of those classic universal faces you see on Elvis/Madonna/Michelangelo's David. He could pass for hispanic, jewish, indian...Do you know the kind of face I mean?
