Canal for Vanderbilt Park?

Kensington Brooklyn reported that the plans for the renovated Vanderbilt Park include a small canal. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. A channel is the next best thing to a wading pool, so much more pleasant than the contrived high pressure spray trumpet thing at the Harmony Playground. People say their kids like this horn based design but my kids don't, they say the water hurts them. OK, maybe they're softies, but I rarely see this contraption luring in children. Although it is very good for catching rainbows.

A channel, on the other hand, will occupy toddlers for hours, who'll learn about currents and flotation and get cooled off just enough without having to worry about getting spray in their eyes. Could be magic. Even the little tiny 2 inch by 6 foot channel they have at the playground at 6th Ave and 19th has a sense of reality that kids can't resist. It's a little brook for the children of Brooklyn.
