Landmark: Surface and Scaffold

I appreciated the recent articles and posts about this place that I never got to go to when it was in business. I have an impression of what went on there that includes adults wearing silly hats playing with noise makers, perhaps the closest Park Slope has ever gotten to Pee Wee's Playhouse.I wonder if my impression has any relationship to reality at all.

The sculptures on the ledges of the building that formerly housed Park Slope Books make me wonder if the iridescent oozing drippiness is contagious.

Love that little old bar. From looking in the windows for years it seemed like it had turned into a zany junk storage space in recent years. Remember when Hooti was next door? There was a rumor that her crazy old mother owned the building. Hooti's owner once assured me that her mother was in Florida, and that was not the case. Thanks for the pics!

PS- I just came from the nice-people deli on the corner of Prospect and thought of you.

Actually Icky, (hows country living?!!) Hooty was up 7th Avenue around the corner from that popular coffee place, iggy's? and IS from FLA.

The granddaughter of the lady who owns that corner building had a store, it was pretty bad, her vintage clothes were all polyester and sort of dirty but she was soooo nice.

I had luck one night wandering by and it was open on a total stroke of luck. A uckele player from Santa Cruz, CA was playing. I bought a single and still have it. He was great.

The place WAS like Pee Wees playhouse but dusty and dirty and she served warm tecate beer. She was like the lady that lived in the woods in a gingerbread house or something. It was a VERY memorable experience!

Ahh, I see! I had my metaphors mixed. (Or at least my vintage stores.) I do love the space that "the good store" ended up by 7th & Flatbush. I think she wrote a book a few years ago about vintage. Maybe?

Good to hear that the Pee Wee Hootenanny (I think we should officially name it that) was open at least one time in the last several years - that is always what I imagined happening in that whacky place!

(In house news - I'm still here. Heading up to the broken down house in a few weeks, and then off and on all Summer. Can't wait!!)
