Togethergreen at Prospect Lake Saturday

Don't be surprised if you see a new shade of green in Prospect Park tomorrow morning, in the form of this group of about 50 volunteers sprucing up around Prospect Lake in the first Togethergreen volunteer event in Prospect Park. Thanks in advance for their devotion to a place that restores the spirits of so many of us. Here's the information I received from Eugene Patron of the Prospect Park Alliance about this effort, which is a collaboration between the Audobon Society and the Prospect Park Alliance.

Prospect Park Part of Nationwide Kick-Off For Audubon TogetherGreen Volunteer Days
Saturday, September 20, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

More than 50 volunteers will come to Prospect Park to help clean and care for Brooklyn’s only lake as part of the kick-off of TogetherGreen and the annual International Coastal Clean-up Day. More volunteers are welcome. Everyone involved should meet at the Rustic Shelter by the Lake (Enter the Park at Ocean and Parkside Avenues). For more information on volunteering this Saturday – or any time at Prospect Park - please call (718) 965-8960, or visit http://www.prospectpark.org/calendar/event/153893

TogetherGreen is a new Audubon conservation initiative that will see 240 volunteer events occurring in more than 40 cities across the country in the next year.

Thanks for posting this. I volunteered today and had a great time and got to make a difference in the park I love so well.

That's why you are not only the bluebird of friendliness, but also the bluebird of awesomeness.

Did you weigh and sort debris as they describe on the event calender? That sounded sort of interesting. One day when I was picking up trash at the base of the Maryland Monument I kept coming across juice box straw wrappers, endlessly. It annoyed me.
