Saturday Still Life

I found the little red-headed baby with smoldering blue eyes, the Infant of Prague, in a box of assorted Jesus representations in front of the creepy old cathedral called St. Josephs, on Pacific St. My but a day in the rectory with a camera would yield a very interesting world, I think.

Thank you so much Queen! St. Joseph's is such a cool creepy place. It even has a neglected garden or 2.

I walked by there for the first time ever yesterday. Uncanny.

I know! I wonder what's afoot.

A great basilica-like remnant of the old days of Catholic power in Brooklyn. Inspired perhaps by the Church of St. Vincent de Paul in Paris? Now sitting practically abandoned, with no money available to restore it to its former "glory." The sanctuary is now used only for worship by the birds in it. Mass is held, I think, only downstairs or in the rectory. They specialize in serving the poor, especially immigrants unwelcomed by our authorities, with support and legal aid. And there are chickens and roosters on the grounds.
What does Ratner intend for all this? Creepy and uncanny no doubt.

...and roosters? Oh my, I want to hear them crow.
